FedEx Tracking
FedEx Express, Ground, and international air freight.
About FedEx
FedEx pioneered overnight delivery in 1973 from its Memphis air hub and now covers 220+ countries and territories across distinct Express and Ground networks. Its high-frequency scanning (typically 5–9 scans per shipment) reveals origin scan, in-transit movements, out-for-delivery, and proof of delivery, including estimated delivery windows.
FedEx tracking number format
Most FedEx numbers are 12 digits (Express) or 15 digits; 20- and 22-digit formats also exist. FedEx Ground numbers often start with 96, 02, 03, or 04, and the barcode on the label can run up to 34 digits — the tracking number is embedded within it.
| Format example |
|---|
0000 0000 0000 |
0000 0000 0000 000 |
These are the most common patterns — carriers use multiple formats by service. Unsure? Paste your number above and we'll detect the carrier for you.

Windows are typical, not guaranteed — customs, weather, and peak season can stretch them.
Common FedEx tracking statuses & what they mean
- “Label Created”
- The shipment exists in FedEx's system but hasn't received its first physical scan yet.
- “Operational Delay”
- A network-side delay (sort backlog, weather, mechanical). No action needed — the ETA usually slips by a day.
- “Clearance Delay”
- Customs needs more time or paperwork for an international shipment. FedEx usually contacts the importer if anything is required.
