USPS Tracking

The United States Postal Service — domestic and international mail.

About USPS

USPS is the United States' government postal operator, legally obligated to serve every US address — handling everything from First-Class Mail to Priority Mail Express and international shipments. Its tracking numbers are issued per service class, and scans appear at acceptance, processing, departure, and delivery, typically updating about once every 24 hours.

USPS tracking number format

Most USPS numbers are 22 digits starting with 94, 92, 93, or 95 (Priority Mail commonly starts 9400 or 9205). International items use the 13-character UPU format ending in US — the first letter signals the service: E = Express, R = Registered, C = parcel, L = letter-post.

These are the most common patterns — carriers use multiple formats by service. Unsure? Paste your number above and we'll detect the carrier for you.

Common USPS tracking statuses & what they mean

In Transit to Next Facility — Arriving Late
The parcel missed its expected window but is still moving. USPS is the only major US carrier that flags lateness explicitly.
Shipment Received, Package Acceptance Pending
USPS has the sender's manifest but hasn't individually scanned your parcel yet — common with bulk shipper drop-offs.
Available for Pickup
The item is waiting at your local Post Office; bring ID to collect it.

USPS tracking FAQ

USPS scans at fixed checkpoints and typically refreshes about once a day, so a package can move for a day or two between scans. If there is no movement for 5+ days, the parcel may be delayed in processing; after 7 days you can file a Missing Mail search with USPS.

Usually 22 digits starting with 94, 92, or 93 (e.g. 9400 1000 0000 0000 0000 00). International shipments use 13 characters like EA123456789US. Certified and Registered Mail also use the 22-digit format.

USPS flagged the shipment as running behind its expected delivery window. The package is still moving; the estimate has simply slipped.
