Canada Post Tracking
Canada Post / Postes Canada — national parcel and mail delivery.
About Canada Post
Canada Post is Canada's primary postal operator, serving 16+ million addresses and acting as the key last-mile carrier for US and China imports through its Richmond and Mississauga gateways. Its tracking numbers update at induction, processing plants, and out-for-delivery.
Canada Post tracking number format
Two main patterns: 16 numeric digits for domestic parcels (enter without spaces), and the 13-character UPU format ending CA for international and Xpresspost items (e.g. EE123456789CA). The card left after a missed delivery carries a separate 15-digit Delivery Notice number.
| Format example |
|---|
0000 0000 0000 0000 |
EE 000 000 000 CA |
These are the most common patterns — carriers use multiple formats by service. Unsure? Paste your number above and we'll detect the carrier for you.

Canada Post estimated delivery times
| Service | Typical delivery time |
|---|---|
| Priority | Next business day (major centres) |
| Xpresspost | 1–2 business days |
| Expedited Parcel | 1–7 business days |
| Regular Parcel | 2–13 business days |
Windows are typical, not guaranteed — customs, weather, and peak season can stretch them.
Common Canada Post tracking statuses & what they mean
- “Item processed”
- The parcel was scanned at a sorting facility and is moving toward the next stop.
- “Item in transit”
- On the road between facilities. On long inter-provincial ground legs, 4–7 quiet days between scans are common — the parcel is usually further along than the last scan suggests.
- “Notice card left”
- Delivery was attempted; collect the item at the indicated post office with ID.

Canada Post tracking FAQ
Domestic parcels use 16 digits (e.g. 5035144199183281); international and Xpresspost items use 13 characters ending CA (e.g. EE123456789CA). Canada Post can't look up parcels by name or address — you need the number.
The parcel has been scanned at a sorting facility and is moving toward the next stop in the network.
Long inter-provincial ground transit commonly shows 4–7 days between scans, and scans can lag the parcel's physical progress. If nothing appears for well over a week, contact Canada Post at 1-866-607-6301.
